Overview
Matthew 28 heralds the triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ, marking the climax of the Gospel and the foundation of the Christian faith. The chapter begins with Mary Magdalene and the other Mary discovering the empty tomb, as an angel proclaims Jesus's resurrection. The women encounter the risen Christ and are commissioned to tell His disciples. Meanwhile, the chief priests conspire with the soldiers to fabricate a story about the body being stolen. Jesus then appears to His disciples in Galilee and gives them the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them. The Gospel of Matthew concludes with Christ's promise to be with them always, even to the end of the age.
