Holding On to the Heels of God
On January 30, 2022, at the Morning Service of WHBC, Pastor Gary Caudill delivered a stirring sermon titled "Holding On to the Heels of God!" Drawing from Genesis 25:20-26 and other scriptures, Pastor Caudill illuminated the spiritual significance of Jacob's life. The sermon focused on three main points: Jacob's Petition (Genesis 32:26), where Jacob insists on receiving a blessing; His Posture (Genesis 25:26), highlighting Jacob holding Esau's heel, symbolizing his tenacity and the start of his transformative journey; and His Profitable Persistence (Genesis 32:28-29), where Jacob's persistence leads to a blessing at the feet of God. Pastor Caudill connected these events to the importance of being at Jesus' feet, emphasizing worship, passion, and recognizing the sacrifice and authority of Jesus. The sermon concluded with references to Matthew 15, Genesis 3:15, and Romans 16:20, tying the Old Testament narrative to the New Testament's message of victory over evil and the grace of Jesus Christ. The essence of the sermon was a call to devote more time at Jesus' feet, recognizing the transformative power of such devotion.
