Choosing Gods: The Consequences of Our Loyalty
Judges 10:13-14
Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
Be careful where you place your loyalty, for it may come back to haunt you! Gal 6:7 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Paul also said in Rom 6:16, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” In other words, you get what you want! If you want to have it your way, you can do that! If you want to serve other gods besides the true and living God of the Bible, you can do that too! Just don’t be surprised when you reap the full consequences for doing so! If you serve a dead god while things are going well, then you’ll only have a dead god to call upon when you’re in distress. If you live in direct disobedience to the Bible, then you’ll also be subject to the penalties associated with that! If you want to be a servant to sin, then you will truly be a servant of sin! If you do not listen to God today, what makes you think that God will listen to you tomorrow? The fact is, God is not interested in “fair weather” relationships with His people. His heart is grieved when this is the case! It’s not His desire that we put Him on ignore until we feel we need Him! Furthermore, we cannot blame Him for allowing us to reap what we ourselves have sown, especially since He has given us plenty of warnings along the way! If we are going to serve Him, let’s do so from this day forward; both for now, and forever! Let’s be true to the only One who will be true to us. Give your life to Christ, and live for God, and you’ll have few regrets!
Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Judges 10:16
And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
