God's Book of Remembrance
Malachi 3:16: "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name."
Just when you thought that the Lord was not paying attention, not only was He paying attention, but He had your conversations about Him written in a book of remembrance! God keeps good records, and He honors those who honor His name. That’s why just the mentioning of His name is so powerful. He delights in our worship and adoration of Him. So my friend, the next time the devil lies to you and tells you that God has forgotten about you, just remind him that God has a book of remembrance with your name in it!
Think of this, fellow laborers in the Lord; when you went through all of those lonely seasons in your ministry when it felt like few, if any, really cared about, paid attention to, or even knew about you serving God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength, angels were making records of it. Remember Hebrews 6:10? "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister." Oh hallelujah, payday is coming someday after a while! The rewards are out of this world!!
Dear children of God, keep your chins up and keep listening for the trumpet, because one of these days we’re going to trade this old cross for a crown, and shall forever be with Jesus our Savior! Until then, know assuredly that He is with you. He is fully aware of your situation, and in due time will help and sustain you through it all. One of the things we will get to do in Heaven is read the archives of all those listed in God’s book of remembrance, along with their stories and their dedication to the Lord.
All of those grandmas whom nobody in the world paid that much attention to, but whose prayers held the world together! All of those preachers who never got to “preach with the big boys” or who never had their names put up in lights! All of those who felt that their work was so small that it seemed insignificant to them; God has them all recorded, and will have them all published in the galleries of Heaven’s Herald one day for all to see! Glory be to God for His faithful acknowledgment of our service to Him!
