The Conflict of Champions for Christ

Matt. 2:3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Some things never change! The powers that be are always intimidated by anyone they perceive as a posing threat to their rule and reign. Here, Herod was troubled because the wise men spoke of the birth of the King of the Jews.
How troubled was he? So troubled in fact, that verse sixteen tells us that he “…sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under…” A man in power that has no character is a dangerous man! He will destroy anything or anyone he must in order to maintain his post.
As Christians, this should be a valuable lesson to us; we, as children of the Light, pose a serious threat to our adversary the devil. We threaten to rain on his parade and shatter his dark kingdom with the glorious light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Since this is the case, it should also be noted that we have an enemy that will stop at nothing (if possible) to destroy us, anything around us, or anyone connected to us, so as to stop us from publishing this truth to the world.
If you currently do not pose a threat to the devil or his kingdom, then you do not have to worry about him attacking you; however, if you have been called, chosen, anointed, and appointed by God to help spread the Gospel around the world, then you do not need to be ignorant of his devices.
The devil’s quickest way to get to you is through other people; especially people you love. You need not be surprised when even the people you expected to aid you in your cause turn on you in the heat of the battle. Champions are no strangers to criticism. As a matter of fact, the more anointed you become for the task that God has given you, the more the enemy will attack.
It is simply amazing at how people’s pride and selfish ambitions cloud their judgment to the point of jealousy and criticism. You will find out who your real enemies are when you begin to outshine others around you. All of the sudden, you will discover who will celebrate with you when you succeed, or who will crucify you in order to make themselves look good.
Regardless, do not fear, for the Bible still says that no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper (Isa. 54:17)! Do not let the threats of your enemy cause you to become distracted; rather, let them drive you!
