God Knows Where the Gold Is: Seeking Wisdom Beyond Wealth
Job 28:1-3
Surely there is a vein for silver, and a place for gold where they fine it. Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone. He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
God knows where the gold is! Do you find yourself sitting in darkness of circumstance, needing provisions (aka gold, silver, brass, etc. which is a type of provisions) you know not how to obtain? Then SEEK THE LORD! Verse three says “He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection…” In other words, God knows where to find the gold, the silver, the brass, the iron, and all other precious metals and stones. Yet in all of this searching, the true treasure is not the substance, but The Savior, for in HIM is ALL Wisdom. And what does Job teach us about wisdom? If you read your entire reading for the day, you will discover in verse eighteen of the same passage that Job said of wisdom, “…for the price of wisdom is above rubies.” You will also learn in verse twenty-eight that “the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” How is this? Because when you know and walk with The Lord, you know and walk with the One who knows EVERYTHING!
If you find HIM, you’ve FOUND the gold, for He will give you wisdom, guidance, and direction throughout the maze of life to help you avoid pitfalls, procure prosperity, and live in health and peace for both now and eternity, if you will seek Him with all of your heart. But the key is, you must seek HIM. Many just want what He knows or does, but they don’t want HIM. But if you don’t want HIM, then neither will you procure His wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and guidance throughout life to assist you in all of your ways.
Furthermore, it is interesting to me that although He knows where the gold is, yet he only reveals the location of gold that requires the refining process. See our text; “…there is a place for gold where they fine it.” And then again, speaking of God, He “searcheth out all perfection.” What is this? Even God is looking for PURE gold. In other words, He wants to be involved in the refining process, and He has reserved that process for those who are willing to seek HIM! So, God will not give you the end product, yet He will give you the raw materials, and then put you in the refining process. Selah!
