Overview
Arrest and Interrogation (verses 1-12): Following the miraculous healing in Acts 3, Peter and John are arrested by the temple authorities. During their trial, they remain steadfast, attributing the healing to Jesus Christ, "the stone you builders rejected." Despite the intimidation, they proclaim that salvation comes from no one else.
The Church Prays for Boldness (verses 13-31): The apostles are released due to lack of evidence and return to the believers, who pray collectively for boldness. The Lord answers by shaking the place where they gathered, and they are filled with the Holy Spirit.
Unity and Generosity (verses 32-37): This chapter ends with an inside look at the early Christian community. They share everything they have, selling possessions to meet others' needs. Barnabas, a Levite from Cyprus, sells a field he owns and places the money at the apostles' feet, symbolizing the unity and generosity that mark the young church.
Acts 4 challenges believers to stand firm in their faith, even when facing adversity, and highlights the strength found in a unified, generous community of believers.
