Overview
Genesis 43 depicts the return of Joseph's brothers to Egypt, this time with their youngest brother, Benjamin, as Joseph had demanded. Facing the prospect of starvation due to the ongoing famine, Jacob reluctantly allows Benjamin to go with them, after Judah offers himself as surety for his safety. Upon arrival in Egypt, Joseph is deeply moved to see his younger brother and arranges a feast for them at his home. The brothers are fearful, thinking they are being brought in because of the money that was returned in their sacks during their first visit, but they are reassured and welcomed warmly. The chapter captures the emotional complexity of the family's reunion, with Joseph still concealing his identity, and highlights the ongoing theme of reconciliation and redemption within the family's narrative.
