Week 3, Day 17:  The Spirit’s Power to Bear Good Fruit and Speak with Wisdom

  • Matthew 12:33  Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

  • Insight: Matthew 12:33 teaches that the fruit of a tree reveals its true nature. Similarly, the Fruit of the Spirit, as listed in Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV), reflects the Spirit’s work in our lives: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness (humility), temperance (self-control): against such there is no law.”

The Holy Spirit produces this fruit in us as evidence of a life rooted in Christ. Alongside this transformation of character, the Spirit also imparts the Gift of the Word of Wisdom (1 Corinthians 12:8), enabling believers to speak God’s truth with clarity and discernment. Just as good fruit demonstrates the health of a tree, the Word of Wisdom reveals the Spirit’s power to guide and edify others, bringing glory to God.

When our lives bear good fruit and our words are guided by the Spirit’s wisdom, we become living testimonies of God’s grace and truth, showing that we belong to Him.

  • Prayer: Thank God for the Holy Spirit, who works in you to bear good fruit and grants the Gift of Wisdom to guide your words. Praise Him for His power to transform your heart and equip you to edify others with wisdom and truth. Pray for the Spirit to continue growing His fruit in your life and to grant you wisdom to speak boldly for His glory.

Close with this prayer from Acts 4:29-30:
"And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, by stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." May the Spirit fill you with boldness, fruitfulness, and wisdom today.
