Week 3, Day 18:  The Spirit’s Fruit of Faith and Gift of Teaching

  • Matthew 13:52  Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

  • Insight: In Matthew 13:52, Jesus describes a scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven as one who brings forth treasures both old and new. This reflects the Holy Spirit’s work in granting the Gift of Teaching, enabling believers to draw from the rich truths of Scripture and share them with others for growth and encouragement. Through this gift, the Spirit equips teachers to illuminate God’s Word, connecting timeless truths to present-day applications.

The Fruit of faith (Galatians 5:22) complements this gift, as it reflects trust in God’s Word and reliance on His Spirit for wisdom and guidance. A teacher who operates in the Spirit demonstrates faith in both the truth of Scripture and the power of God to transform lives through it. Together, the Gift of Teaching and the Fruit of Faith empower believers to build up the body of Christ by proclaiming His Word with confidence and clarity.

  • Prayer: Thank God for the Holy Spirit, who grants the Gift of Teaching and produces the Fruit of Faith in your life. Praise Him for the treasures of His Word, both old and new, and for His power to equip His people for ministry. Pray for the Spirit to deepen your trust in God’s Word, to equip you to teach and encourage others, and to reflect faith in all you do.

Close with this prayer from Acts 4:29-30:
"And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, by stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." May the Spirit fill you with faith and equip you to proclaim His Word boldly.
